Stortford 10
Sunday 13th June 2010
Alex Downie

The daring dynamic Downie duo, plus Ben Baldelli headed out on the hills and trails round Bishop Stortford on 12th June. Alex's stated tactic of tracking Ben throughout the race, then sprinting ahead just before the finish failed by a whisker, i.e. a mere 21minutes. A special well done to Ben for winning the race outright, and a very special well done for his amazing time of 58 minutes over such a difficult course.
Nearly all the 10 miles of it are off road; I counted at least 4 major hills, one of which was so steep that some runners decided walking was the best option, and some bits were tricky underfoot. But it was scenic and enjoyable and the marshalls were smiley and helpful. It is not a mega-race, so it has quite a gentle, relaxed atmosphere. There is also a 10k race option.
